D and D Farms knows how important fresh fruits and vegetables are to a healthy life style. As you can see from our home page, the owner of our Farm, Dean Bruschi is a 4th generation farmer, whose life long passion is farming. Why? because he can produce healthy vegetables, that are wholesome, nutritious and taste good. This year he wanted to make this even more available to our neighbors and customers, and is doing this with two programs similar yet different. The first program is our CSA Program which you can read more about under our CSA Section of our web page. This is a limited program with 200 shares, and consists exclusively of vegetables that are grown, right on our farm, and supplied to you weekly within 24 hours of being picked.
Our Second program is our “Fresh to You program”. How would you like fresh vegetables delivered to your home or office weekly, bi-weekly, every third week or once a month, all year round or just for a few weeks or months? Well you can by signing up for D and D Farms “Fresh to You program”.
What is it and how does it work?
This is covered fully on our page “Fresh to You”
There are three options of type of box, being Fruit, Vegetables and a mixed fruit and Vegetable box, and each one comes in two sizes. What is included in each box is listed below on each box icon. These items will change from week to week on Monday. For those who order week to week (as opposed to those signing up for multiple weeks) need to place their order by 6:00pm on Tuesday.
If there are items in the box that you do not care for, you can substitute up to 3 items from your box, for items that are in stock covered below. These 3 items will be included in your box price. If you wish to order additional items you can select which items you would like and these will be added to your shopping cart and the computer will give you a total for your order. When ordering or requesting different items there is also a box where you can list out what you don’t want in your box, so these can be removed from your box prior to delivering.
During the Florida growing season, your produce will come from our farm, other local and other Florida farms. Weekly on Monday we update our list of what comes in your specific sized box. After our growing season is over, we get our produce from suppliers in the US and work towards getting them from as close as possible to ensure shorter transportation times, and in many cases get them directly from the pickers.
How is this different from the CSA?
The CSA or community supported agriculture is a program where our local community signs up and pledges support to our farm. From their monetary donations we are then able to help cover the cost of running the farm. The exchange is fresh picked produce exclusively from our farm that is picked and delivered to their door or ready for pick up within 24 hours. The only way to get fresher produce that is vine ripe, nutritious and ready to eat is to grow it your self.
